This position works with the Sevierville Parks and Recreation Department’s Children’s Programs, supervising programs and staff associated with all the Children’s Program.   Leading and supervising children ages 4 - 14 in active and passive games/sports, interaction with children on field trips, and administrative and maintenance duties related to the Children’s Programs.  Other significant work will include the operation of the Community Center Front Desk, Fitness Center Attendant, and Lifeguarding. Work is performed under the supervision of the Recreation Superintendent and the Recreation Supervisor for the Children’s Program.

Summary of Duties

Provide supervision, instruction, and interaction with children through games, sports and field trips.  Responsible for children’s safety, behavior and enjoyment of programs while performing scheduled activities; will also need to show initiative to begin non-scheduled activities.  
Works directly and “Hand On” with all Children’s Programs, including supervising part-time staff associated with Children’s Programs.
Transport children and (occasionally adults) using a 15-passenger van and a (Commercial Driver’s License required) Mid-Size Bus.
Assist in recruiting and training new staff.  
Plan, organize, implement, and evaluate a variety of recreation programs and special events for children.
Recommend, interpret, and explain program policies and procedures.
Administrative duties include operation of the RecDesk software, interaction with customers in person, by phone and email, complete payment transactions, process reservations and registrations, preparing publications and completes reports.  
Perform routine maintenance of Children’s Areas, including vehicles.  
Manage equipment and games, including researching and purchasing new equipment, games and activities.
Lifeguard for the Children’s Programs, the Community Center Indoor Pool and the Family Aquatic Center.  
Perform Fitness Center attendant duties: monitor the Fitness Center, assist customers concerning Fitness Center equipment and perform routine Fitness Center maintenance.
Attends or conducts staff and other professional meetings to exchange information; attends in-service training and technical or professional classes, seminars, or conferences to improve technical or professional skills.


Salary Range

$20.22 - $22.30 hourly
