The City of Bartlett Parks & Recreation Department is searching for an enthusiastic and highly organized Event Planning Specialist to design, plan, and execute unforgettable special events for all ages. If you have a passion for community engagement, exceptional organizational skills, and a knack for creating engaging experiences, this is the job for you! 



What You’ll Be Doing:

Plan, organize, and oversee community-wide special events and activities for all age groups.

Collaborate with internal departments to ensure smooth execution of indoor and outdoor events. Evaluate event success, gather participant feedback, and recommend improvements. Maintain registration and event details using digital software, including cancellations and communications. Supervise event staff during setup, execution, and breakdown of events. Manage event budgets, procure supplies, and oversee financial tracking. Develop partnerships and sponsorships to enhance events and community engagement. Recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers to support special events.

Step in as needed to assist with clerical and administrative duties within the department.

 Strong leadership and teamwork skills to coordinate staff, volunteers, and vendors.
Excellent communication and customer service abilities to engage with community members and stakeholders. Creativity, flexibility, and problem-solving skills to adapt to changing needs and trends. Proficiency with event management software and technology to streamline planning and logistics. Passion for community involvement and creating memorable experiences.

Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, Recreation, Fitness, or a related field – OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Requirements:

Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) required within 12 months of employment.  CPR, AED, and First Aid certification required within 12 months of employment. Valid Tennessee driver’s license (must remain valid as a condition of employment). Must pass a driver’s license check, background check, physical exam, and drug screening.

Work Environment & Expectations:

Work will be a mix of office, indoor, and outdoor event environments. Some travel within Bartlett for meetings, site visits, and event coordination. Ability to work in various weather conditions and perform light physical tasks (lifting, bending, setup/takedown).
