Athletic Supervisor

JOB SUMMARY
Performs intermediate technical and professional work supervising recreational athletic programs; does related work as required. This position works under the regular supervision of the Athletic Coordinator and has limited oversight over part-time personnel.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (examples, not all-inclusive)
- Plans and organizes athletic programs. Recruits game officials and team volunteers.
- Prepares fields and facilities for activities.
- Maintains records and files.
- Recruits, screens, and trains youth team volunteers, officials, and scorekeepers.
- Conducts clinics, assigns, and supervises game officials.
- Visits and observes games in progress.
- Conducts tryouts. Supervises league play. Mediates problems and complaints.
- Registers program participants, collects fees, and ensures the accuracy of registration data.
- Prepares team rosters and schedules for each league.
- Recruits, trains, and prepares payroll for officials, referees, umpires, scorekeepers, timekeepers, and gym supervisors.
- Recruits and conducts coaching clinics for volunteer coaches in various sports, including basketball, baseball, and softball.
- Coordinates use of fields and facilities with schools.
- Checks on games while in progress. Ensures each game has officials, timers, and scorekeepers.
- Reschedules games when necessary.
- Helps with special events when needed.
- Ensures coaches and officials are aware of rules, regulations, and policies.
- Prepares newspaper articles concerning programs, game results, league standings, and schedules
- Performs related tasks as required.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, two (2) to three (3) years of related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- General knowledge of sports such as baseball, softball, volleyball and basketball, and other sports
- General knowledge of first aid practices and techniques
- General knowledge of modern principles and practices of recreation and physical education
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with County and community officials, associates, volunteers, and the general public.
- Ability to resolve disputes with firmness and impartiality.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Possession of a valid driver's license.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand or walk.
- The employee must use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms.
- The employee must hear to receive information through oral communication and talk to express or exchange ideas through spoken word.
- The employee must exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and exert up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects.
- The employee must make rational decisions through sound logic and deductive reasoning.

WORKING CONDITIONS
