AFO Course 2/23-24

NRPA offers the premier certification program in swimming pool operations, the Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) certification. The AFO program provides the most comprehensive and up-to-date training for pool operators and includes information on water chemistry, disinfection, mechanical systems, operations, healthy pools and safety.

Eligibility

AFO candidates should be at least 18 years of age. There are no education or experience prerequisites for taking the AFO exam.

How to Become an AFO

To become an AFO, you must successfully pass the AFO exam. The AFO exam is 50 questions, open-book and covers five core competencies: water chemistry and disinfection, mechanical systems and operations, health and safety, daily operations and maintenance. AFO certification is valid for five years.

Are you a AFO?  If so, you can earn CEUs or take the exam to recertify (https://www.nrpa.org/certification/AFO/afo-renewal/). This class qualifies you for the following credits

Group A 1.0 CEUs

Group B 0.5 CEUs

Class Size: Registration is on a first come-first served basis and the class and exam limit is 20.

Cancellation Policy: No cancellations will be accepted after 2/11/2026. Substitutions are encouraged if someone cannot attend.
